CNY in KL

As with every year since we had Tasha, we went back to KL for Chinese New Year. With the extended family and more in KL, the kids had a great time.

Practically the whole week was dominated by elaborate meals (needless to say, I am back on my diet now....which went so well in Jan, sigh). Before CNY, Auntie Ailin treated us to a seafood dinner. We had, amongst other things, snow crab cooked in salted eggs. Yum! It was one of Nigel's favourite food. He sat there all evening quietly devouring the crab pieces. This is him with a cleaned out claw:

Seeing how Nigel had enjoyed his crab, Tasha wanted a try. Unfortunately, she didn't like it. But that didn't stop her from posing for the camera by pretending to eat a crab with a body bigger than her face!

During the week, we also managed to squeeze in a couple of sessions at Art Attack. This was Andrea's first and these were her handiwork:

As is the tradition in our house, we had a reunion lunch at home on New Year's eve which we kicked start with a Yu Sang (raw fish salad). The kids had fun tossing it with us.

On the first day of the new year, we were usually visited by 2 dancing lions. This year we had 2 brand new lions, one of which was donated by Grandpa Leow! Needless to say, we had an extra special dance this year!

What Tasha looked forward to most at the end of the day is calculating the laisee money she got coz this year she was allowed to buy a Nintendo DS (which she so wanted to get) with her laisee money. No prices for guessing what she is doing right now......

Andrea had not yet grasped the idea of laisee. She didn't know that they were supposed to contain money (the ones she had from school had stickers in them)! I let her open her laisee and with every one of them she opened, she took out the money and said with such excitement: "oh lucky!". I wish we could be more like her, then we would all be much happier.

After 3 days of visiting relatives and friends, we were really tired. Luckily, we were able to squeeze in a relaxing morning at the pool. We were joined here by some distant cousins Jackson and Beta whom we see only once a year.
