4-Eye Tasha

Today, Tasha received her first pair of reading glasses. I guess this should not come as a surprise as Tasha loves to read and loves using the computer. But as a parent, I really didn't want to see her wear glasses so soon.

I was devastated when I first realised that she may be developing short-sightedness. This was about a year ago when we were holidaying in California. We were at Santa Barbara pier and she couldn't read some of the signs on a distant building. As her short-sightedness was only very mild then, she could do most things normally (still can), so there is no need for glasses. I pretended that everything is fine.

School is about to start. Time for those annual appointments - vaccinations, dental check-up etc. So, why not throw in an eye test?! Results: R -1.00 L -1.25. Not severe, she only needs to wear glasses in school and only when reading what's on the black board (or white board in her case) but glasses nonetheless. One good thing is that the doctor taught her how to take care of her eyes. Nothing I hadn't already told her - no reading in the car, no computer for more than 20 mins - but when these things come from the doctor, they listen!

So, this is Tasha with her glasses.
