Charity Book Sale

Christmas is almost upon us. In the spirit of giving, Ann, Elke and I (together with our children) organized a charity book sale. We send out a request to friends and residence at Scenic Villas. And.......we were given a whole load of books!!!

So, on Saturday 11 Dec, we brought the books down to the open area at our development and we were in business!


The children were really enthusiastic and helpful. When the weather started to cool down, we motivated the adults (myself included) with wine disguised in kiddy cups (see below)!


When we finally closed up 4 hours later and tallied the money, we managed to collect a whopping HK$4,500 from the sale! Totally awesome!!! Together with money from the sale of left over books to a secondhand book store, we donated a total of HK$5,000 to Room to Read, a charity which built libraries in poor countries giving all children access to books. This was certainly an interesting and rewarding experience for me. I hope the children learnt something too.
