School Interview

Today, we received a letter notifying us that Andrea was accepted into Victoria Nursery South Horizon. I have mixed feelings. Victoria Nursery is where Tasha went before she entered CIS and is the nursery I would like Andrea to attend. However, the campus allotted to us (they have several across Hong Kong Island) is not the one we applied for. Could it be that Andrea did not perform well at her interview?????

Yes, interview! On 16 November, after we returned from KL, Andrea attended an interview at Victoria Nursery Belcher’s (Note – NURSERY). Although I have been to a number of these interviews with Tasha, I still get quite worked up about these interviews as they never tell you what they are looking for or testing for. I mean, at this age, Andrea can’t even tell pee pee from poo poo…….what do they hope to achieve?

As we missed the initial interview date at 11 November, we were asked to go on 16 November. I just noticed I kept using “we”, I do take this very personally. Anyways, since this is not the main interview date, Andrea was not assessed in a group as she was supposed to. That day, there were only Andrea and another girl who spoke Mandarin (mother said she is Malaysia) and this girl appeared a lot older (aiya, already put Andrea at a disadvantaged position). We all went into the library and a guilo teacher (another disadvantage as Andrea does not generally like the male species) came to read The Hungry Caterpillar to the girls. As soon as the guilo teacher walked in, Andrea hid behind my back (aiyaaaa) and slowly worked her way out a little at a time. As usual, she won’t help the teacher turn the page or move the puppets. Only recognised “ice cream” (aiyaaaaaa). Come to thing of it, it is not easy to make out things in Eric Carle’s book…….just our luck. I hope Andrea can win the teacher over with her big eyes………….well, I guess not.

Considering applying for a few other kindergarten………
