Performances

April has been a very busy month for us - we have been back to KL again during the Easter holidays to celebrate Grandma Leow’s birthday during which we also managed to pack in a 4-day break to Pangkor Island with Grandma and Grandpa Lee.

April has been an even busier month for Tasha. She participated in a music concert and a public ballet performance!

Piano Concert
Tasha takes piano lessons from Ms. Alice who lives just a couple of blocks away from us. She has been taking lessons for almost 2 years now and her performance is, sadly, dependent on the amount of time I spent practicing with her (and since I have been pretty busy lately, you can guess her performance). Anyways, Ms. Alice organizes an annual concert for all her students. I think this is a great exercise for the children (to build confidence) – even though this means we have to sacrifice half a Sunday for this. Last year, Tasha only performed in an ensemble playing the bells………This year, Teacher Alice puts her on 3 events!

The first was a piano solo, she played Autumn Days and From a Wigwam. She was so confident, she didn’t even want to bring along her music book. She played them from memory – such a show-off! The second was a song with Jonathan Birkett with Ms. Alice at the piano singing “Whatever will be will be”. This is the first time I have heard her sing on stage. She does have a sweet voice. This final event was an ensemble of A Wonderful Birthday. She played the castanet. For photos of the concert, go to:

Ballet Performance
Every year, the Carol Bateman School of Dance puts together a semi-public ballet performance. The reason I said it is semi-public coz I think the tickets, although available to the public, were bought mainly by proud parents! The ballet this year is “Elves and the Shoemaker”. In order for all the students to take part in the ballet, many characters or group of characters were added. Tasha’s group is the MICE. Each group gets about 10 mins or so.

After taking her to numerous extra rehearsals as well as stage rehearsals, the weekend of the actual performance finally arrived. They put on two shows – Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. It was a very well put together performance, I was impressed (even though I have to sit through the other 140 mins of performance). As photography is not allowed in the concert hall, all I got was her in her costume before the event. I hope to get the group photos later in the week. For photo of our little white mouse, go to:
