Picking Strawberries in HK

On Good Friday, we took the kids to pick strawberries at a strawberry farm in the New Territories. Yes, can you imagine? Picking strawberries in HK!?!? Anyways, the kids have been home for a week already since schools were suspended last Thursday, they were really keen to get out of the house. So, we thought we would give it a try.

Armed with some food and drinks, we set out for the New Territories. This place is so far away, it is literally off the grid of both my HK map! But with the directions given, we found it.

This farm is.........a farm........in the 3rd world sense! Dirt road, make shift shack and a toilet in a hut! I forbid the girls to drink any water while we were there coz I ain't going to take them to that toilet!

Tasha, who has been to a farm or two with her school, was really looking forward to picking strawberries (it's her first - poor girl). So, armed with a basket and a pair of scissors, she went right to it. Andrea, on the other hand, did not take too kindly to the dirt around her. She refused to walk on the uneven dirt road. Took us a long time to convince her to show some enthusiasm for the strawberries.

After picking the strawberries, we bought some organic vegetables from the farms near by. Tasha was allowed to "pick" some carrots. At least now the girls knows where some of the vegetables and fruits come from!

Here are some of the pictures we took:

Che che, can you give me some?

Look! I got one!
