Weekend in Singapore

Geoff was working in Singapore over the Dragon Boat long weekend. So, we flew down to join him for a couple days. I flew down with the girls on Friday night. They were very good to me - they slept most of the way there - this also meant that they were wide awake when we got to Singapore at midnight!

Saturday, we woke up to torrential rain. Unable to do anything in that weather, we had a lazy brunch in the hotel. We were lucky to be away in Singapore. We later found out that the Black rain signal was hoisted in Hong Kong and many places were flooded - some areas had over 2 feet of water! There were even a couple of land slides!

When the rain eased, we went for a walk at Vivo City - with a view to make our way to Sentosa Island when the rain stopped. The walk in Vivo City was quite pleasant in the early afternoon. It soon got crowded and it felt just like Hong Kong. So, we made our way outside to the waddling pool.

Then we stopped by at an arcade for some fun.

Since the rain never really stopped, we didn't go to Sentosa. Instead, we went back to the hotel for a swim - Tasha in the pool and Andrea in the tub!

Later that evening, Geoff took us to Geelang to try the famous Crab Mee Hoon. It was in a very run down coffee shop. But, hey, the best food we had were in similar settings, so it was fine. There were only about 10 tables when we got there. But we waited forever for the food to come - the chef did everything himself, including take orders! The kids were so hungry, they had rice with fried veggies. When the crab mee hoon finally came 2 hours later, I had lost my appetite. It was good but not worth the wait. We ate half and took the rest back (and had it for breakfast the next day!).

Sunday was a much better day - the rain had stopped. We attended a post wedding lunch at a friend's place. We had lunch while the kids played in the pool.

Then we went for a walk along the river and later to visit the Merlion.

Then we ended a very pleasant day with a late night swim at the hotel
