We explored the San Francisco area from my Aunt Mathilda’s and Uncle Bill’s place during the 1st week of our stay. The kids had a great time playing with Nicole. It was so good, we didn’t want to leave! We then drove down to San Diego stopping along the way.
Some of you may have already heard the tale of how we almost didn’t make it back! Our return flight to HK leaves from San Francisco. So, we had to catch a connecting flight from San Diego. And on the day of departure, our flight from San Diego to San Francisco was delayed by close to 2 hours due to heavy fog in San Francisco. We had a 3 hour window between the flights which I thought was plenty!
So, mega panic!! Called Cathay Pacific to see if they were able to help (like hold the plane for us) and were told not really but the flight to HK was also slightly delayed due to the fog, so good luck. Lucky for us, Virgin America flew into the same terminal as Cathay Pacific and the terminal (thank goodness) was not half as big as HK! The staff at Virgin America was very helpful – offered to let us have our baggage at the gate (so no need for us to wait at the baggage claim). Soon as we landed, we grabbed our bags (4 heavy ones, for a brief moment I wished I hadn’t done so much shopping), Tasha pushed the pram (without Andrea on it) and all 4 of us ran towards the check-in counters. In the end, we managed to make it there with time to spare. But lots of cells died in the process…..
I have been clearing photos these past few days. It was kinda nice – like reliving the holidays. As we have over 800 photos, it will take me a while to sort them out and put them on the net. May be have to do it by stages. So bear with me.
