Tasha attended her 1st swimming meet last Saturday. The place in which she had her swimming lessons organises these informal swimming meets periodically. Tasha, being her usual self, had been reluctant to participate stating not fast enough and not strong enough etc as excuses.
We would like her to participate just once, to experience what it's like. We told her we didn't expect her to win. She just needed to experience what it's like and then she can decide for herself.
Recently, we were given a DVD of Nick Vujicic - a guy born without arms and legs. After watching that DVD with her, she felt that she had no more excuses to refuse. So, reluctantly she agreed to participate.
she is on the far right
On her first race, she came in 2nd out of 4 at a time of 30.3 seconds! For that she got her 1st silver medal.

On her 2nd race - 25m freestyle, she was a little slow off the block - said she was affected by the very loud starting gun. But she managed to chase up
and in 3rd out of 5. And for that, she got herself another medal!
After this experience, I think she is much more willing to participate in future meets.
