This Chinese New Year, we decided to go skiing. We have not been since Whistler. This time, we chose to join some friends in Meribel, France. To get over the jet lag, we decided to spend an extra day at Geneva.
We arrived in Geneva late morning and made our way by public transport (which is amazingly efficient, it is after all Switzerland) to our hotel. Once settled, we ventured out for a walk before jet lag set in. Geneva is a very small city and many of the sights are within walking distance?
We walked along the shore of Lake Geneva. There is a small garden or esplanade with a view of Jet d'Eau.

We also came across an old public swimming pool along the shore. The pool was not opened as the temperature was freezing cold. But the enclosed seating area was. One can buy food and beverages from a kiosk outside and take a seat inside. It's a room full of long tables and benches and a blazing fire. Many older residents were there playing cards. It was so cold outside that we too took refuge in there with cups of hot chocolate!

The next day, we walked the old town on the other side of the city.

We also visited the St. Peter's Cathedral.

We also walked the many shops in the Old Town as well as the main shopping streets of Geneva.

When in the main street, we were greeted by a large marching band!
