Andrea's First Day at Victoria Nursery

Finally, Andrea got to go to school! The day is Monday, 13 August, 2007 and typhoon PABUK is well and truly gone.

Andrea is in English/Mandarin Bilingual Nursery. Andrea was ok going into class. A bit shy but ok. Unfortunately, there were a few cry babies – two were literally howling away. So, she got a bit upset. But after the music class (which I had to sit in with her), she was a happy bunny again.

To break the new kids into the school schedule, they start the kids off with 1-hour classes for 4 days, then 2-hour for the next 5 days before eventually putting the kids on the normal 3-hour schedule. However, what I didn’t know was that Andrea was the only new student in class. The others had been there since pre-nursery. Andrea did not attend pre-nursery because, other than the campus at North Point which Tasha attended (and is now quite a distant away from where we live), there are no English/Mandarin pre-nursery at this campus. So, in short, she is one of the younger children in class and the only one on the special schedule. She enjoyed it so much that when time came for her to leave, she started crying!!! So, we had to let her stayed a little long................

After discussing with the class teacher, she agreed that there is no point for Andrea to keep to the special schedule since she is soooo keen. So, from day 3 onwards, she will be on the 3-hour schedule. Way to go, Babe.

Today is day 2 – she will be taking the school bus to school. We have arranged for Lisa (our helper) to take the school bus with her for the first few weeks of school. Let’s she how she does.
