Beijing Day 3: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven

We started Day 3 of our journey in Tiananmen Square. Tasha remembered the celebration on the square on National Day (1st Oct). We walked the length of the square to get to the Forbidden City.

These are the workers who kept the square so clean

Once we passed through Tiananmen gate under a picture of Mao Zedong, we entered a square which led to The Forbidden City. Here we waited while Geoff bought the entrance tickets.

Once inside the Forbidden City, father and daughter planned the route

After all the photo takings, we were not even inside the Forbidden City!

Reminded me of The Last Emperor

Next, we moved on to the Temple of Heaven. It was as majestic as I remembered.

Tasha was a bit disappointed that she couldn't try out the echo wall - unlike 15 years ago, they fenced it up to save it from the millions and millions of tourists

Everyone wanted to get on this, so why not the girls?

Finally, found an empty one - of course this is not the one

That evening we met up with the Kohs for dinner at the famous Dadong Peking Duck Restaurant. Unfortunately, half way through the meal, the electricity got cut off. Luckily we managed to try the duck and the girls had fun playing together.

They do look cool in their head gears
