Plucking Rambutans

There is a great big rambutan tree at Geoff's parents' house. It had been there since they lived there, some 30 years ago. It hasn't bore any fruits for many years. Grandpa Lee told us that in the past few years, the wind had blown the flowers away before they could bear fruits. I guess this year is a good year coz the tree bore fruits, a lot of fruits!

Grandpa Lee, Tasha and Glenda (our helper) had fun plucking the rambutans. Tasha plucked the rambutans that grew on the lower branches. Grandpa Lee plucked the higher ones with a hook attached to a rod. Glenda plucked those right on top by climbing up the tree! She had such fun climbing, she went up again for more rambutans.

The rambutans with their hairy appearance do not appeal to Andrea. She only touched them once after much encouragement. But she did try to help - take the basket into the house but it was too heavy for her.

It was a fruitful plucking session - 2 baskets full! And a fun afternoon. For photos, go to:
