Last Day: USS Midway and Coronado Beach

Last day in San Diego. We planned to visit Legoland today but there's still so much to see. With some persuasion, Tasha agreed to visit the USS Midway, San Diego's aircraft carrier museum, instead. USS Midway had been in service for 47 years and its last mission was Operation Desert Storm.

As it turned out, Tasha was more excited about USS Midway than Geoff. We toured the carrier. Tasha won't miss anything from the Seaman Quarters to Radio Room to Mess Hall to Sick Bay. She was most fascinated by the Admiral's and the Captain's quarters - own bed, own room, own bathroom and most of all, personal chef!

Squinting hard to see the USS Midway from the esplanade

A floor map showing the voyages of USS Midway. Interestingly enough, the ship was commisioned too late and never saw battle during WWII

The first of many pictures of Tasha inside USS Midway. This is the Seaman Quarters. First thought....how can so many people sleep in one room. First time we came across a triple decker bed

The girls had such fun climbing into the different aircrafts on display.

Next, we went up to the flight deck where there were tens of aircraft on display. Both Geoff and Tasha had a great time looking and learning about all of them.

The looooong flight deck

Next to the USS Midway is a park which houses a 25 foot tall statue of a Navy Sailor and a Nurse and some war statues.

After the visit, we went to nearby Sea Village for lunch.

And since it was such a hot day, we made our way to the last beach of this trip - Coronado Beach.

Once again, Tasha quickly found a friend (her name was Chloe) to jump the waves with her. Chloe tried to persuade Tasha to visit San Diego again next summer.

Since the sea was too cold for Andrea, she improvised and swam on the sand

With this, we conclude the tales of our trip across California. Tomorrow, we return to HK. Till the next trip!
