Day 13: San Diego Zoo

We checked into Omni Hotel San Diego last night. It was a very child friendly hotel. While we were checking in, the girls were each given a backpack which contained toys, candy and a special travel cup. This travel cup allowed them to get refills from any restaurant in the hotel. The hotel also had a travel luggage filled with books and toys for children to use during their stay. Tasha (who is usually very shy) learnt a valuable lesson during this stay - if you want something, all you have to do is ask. For once, she was actually excited to ask for something. She went up to the front desk to borrow the travel luggage. And each morning, she would bring both the travel cups to the hotel restaurant and ask for apple juice. I am very proud of her.

There are many theme parks in and around LA and San Diego. Before we arrived, we planned to visit the San Diego Zoo and then either the Sea World and/or Legoland. Since we had just been to Sea World in the Gold Coast only 6 months before, I much prefer to go to Legoland. But first, San Diego Zoo.

Like the London Zoo, the San Diego Zoo is right in the middle of town. These were some of the animals we saw.

Below is a Ring Tail Lemur - the real life version the soft toy Tasha chose from Fairmont Hotel. Sadly, she lost it in Omni Hotel. We suspect house keeping bundled it with some of the dirty towels and took it to the laundry.

The highlight of the visit was a life performance by Stephen Fishwick, one of the artists from Splash! Animals (http://www.splashanimals.com/).

The first of 2 paintings. Done in 15 minutes!

Paint transfers from the artist!

The Monkey God and sidekicks at San Diego zoo??!!!
