Surveys

Have you ever been stopped and asked to do a survey? Well, in Hong Kong, there are loads of these surveys being conducted on the streets, especially in Central and Causeway Bay (unfortunately, we hang out there a lot!). If I see them operating, I will either pretend to talk on my hand phone, or if I am too late to do that and they approached me……this I learn from Geoff……..I just pretend I don’t speak Chinese and 10 out of 10 times, they leave you alone. So………you can be sure that we have not been included in the survey below!

According to a survey conducted by Merrill Lynch in the Asian region, there are about 77k USD millionaires (excluding principal residents) in Hong Kong, an increase of over 15% from last year (so, times are supposedly better). However, this only puts Hong Kong at no. 3. Japan is at no. 1 with over 1.4m USD millionaires (so what’s new?). What is surprising is China top the chart at no. 2 with over 320k USD millionaires!!! What happened to communism??? May be our great-grandparents should have stayed……
