Day 12: Balboa Beach and Newport Beach

The morning we left Santa Monica, the hotel lobby was closed for a "private function". Being the nosey person that I am, I went to check it out. It turned out that they were filming in the lobby. How exciting! I tried to see if I knew any of the celebrities. That would be a great tale to tell. But I didn't recognised anyone. I later found out that they were filming a scene for The Entourage..........I am a TV addict but sadly this is not one I watch.

On the way to San Diego, we wanted to take the kids to Newport Beach. But took a wrong turn and ended up in Balboa Beach instead. Lucky for us, Balboa Beach seemed to be a nicer beach, less touristy.

While we were there, a junior life guard training was in session. The youngest ones looked like they were only about 8!

Tasha and Andrea warming up on the sand

Tasha testing the waves

She soon got the hang of "wave jumping"

Andrea tried out the water but decided it was too cold for her

She rather bury herself in the warm sand

After Balboa Beach, we drove to Newport Beach for a look and some photos. We remembered from our previous trips that it was a pretty upscale beach town where all the rich people play.

Wah, lucky we took a wrong turn!
