Day 10 & 11: Santa Barbara and Santa Monica

We stopped by Santa Barbara on route to Santa Monica. There is nothing much in Santa Barbara. Geoff said he wanted a look coz he remembered a daytime soap by that name!

We had lunch at an American diner. Tasha was really excited. She had been playing this NDS game called Diner Dash. So, for her, it's like her game came alive (only she was not the waitress)!

Santa Barbara is a southern Californian rarity - a city with a single architectural style - Mediterranean/Spanish. This is its county courthouse.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. This was a treat for us. It's a very nice hotel and the kids were given a soft toy each as a welcome gift. Tasha chose a Ring Tail Lemur which she initially thought was a Koala! Andrea picked a monkey (how appropriate!). We didn't do much sight seeing in Santa Monica. Just chilled and indulged in some retail therapy. The only place we visited was the Santa Monica Pier.
