Day 3: Napa Valley

When we were in California last, we hadn’t learnt how to appreciate wine, so we only visited one vineyard - Clos Pegase – but more for the art than the wine. This time, we would like to visit a few more vineyards and try some of the Californian wines.

But after we got 3 kids ready, loaded everything onto the car and drove an hour there, we only managed to get there in time for lunch. Our first stop was Domaine Chandon, a champagne maker.

The reason for stopping here first was its restaurant.

Hmmm, bubbles and oysters, sounded wonderful but sadly we were there on the "wrong" day. We weren't disappointed though, the lunch (although a bit small in size) was excellent.

After lunch, we went to the famous Robert Mondavi vineyard. It was a beautiful vineyard.

While we were tasting the wines, the kids had fun in the garden.

We were going to visit Stirling vineyard next. It's a vineyard located up on a cliff and can only be reached by cable cars. The kids would love it. But unfortunately we were a bit late - many of the vineyards close at about 4.30pm. So, we moved on to Clos Pegase.

Clos Pegase was as pretty as we remembered. And the wine isn't bad either! We bought one home for dinner.
