Cortona and Montepulciano

Today is the only day we "lived" like an Italian. As you know siesta is important in Italy. Most shops open from 9:30/10am till about 1pm, then they open again at 4pm till about 8pm. Many times during our trip, we would miss the opportunity to buy produce (like that wine cellar in Greve) or interesting things we saw. But, today, we timed our trip perfectly.

After breakfast, we drove to Cortona, another hill town. There we walked the town, did some shopping - mainly wine.

Then around noon, we went to the market at the main square. And when we saw this man with his roasted pig, we knew this was lunch. We also managed to find fresh pecorino cheese. We bought a whole wheel to bring back home to HK!

Back at our apartment, we feasted on roast pork, ham, pecorino and wine. After lunch, Geoff had a nap while the girls had a swim in the pool. Nice........

Later in the afternoon, we drove to Montepulciano, another hill top town famous for its wine. It was gray and drizzly, but that didn't stop us from having a nice pleasant stroll around town.

That's the end of our perfect Italian day!
