There are different type of ferries going to Martha's Vineyard, we went with the traditional one - it is more economical for family and although it takes longer, it is different. When we were at the pier, we saw some people at the queue talking to a gentleman who was just getting off one of the hydrofoil. Geoff recognised him as John Kerry. Well, that's the closest we got to an American politician!

Martha's Vineyard was not as we imagined. It was much bigger with quite a lot of traffic. We thought it was a small place where we could cycle along quiet streets - we even made sure Tasha could ride before the trip! Although she was glad she didn't have to ride at Martha's Vineyard, she didn't let us forget that we made her practice.........
It was so big that we had to take buses. There are 6 little towsn in Martha's Vineyard. With the little time we had, we decided to visit only 2 - Oak Bluffs (where the ferry stopped) and Edgartown. From the description in the guide book, the rest (other than Tisbury, the other town with a ferry terminal) may be a little too sleepy for our taste.

Just before we board the return ferry, the kids spotted a stretch of beach from the bus, so we had to let them have a bit of fun
